The world can feel so dark sometimes
that it’s impossible to know
if there is any good left
and we can get so lost in the noise
that constant distraction makes.
Too preoccupied
with things to buy
and things to do
and people to see
and places to go
and pictures to take
and videos to make
that we miss what’s really going on
Fueled by hate
and lust
and fear
and jealousy
that we trade our
humanity
for likes.
Trade our decency
for spewed rhetoric
in the comments section
dissecting the mistakes
and the lives of people
we know nothing about
all because of how they look
or the color of their skin
or how they choose to identify.
The truth is that everyone
deserves love
and perhaps if more people
loved each other
there would be just a little less hate
a little less fuel for the fires
Remember when you’re casting stones
at glass houses
that your house
is just as fragile
and will crumble as quickly
when the hate you spew
comes back for you.
