How can the world keep turning
When I can’t feel anything anymore?
The absence of you is everywhere,
Even though you are long gone.
I can’t understand why
And I know that it’s not fair.
You should be here
And I should be there.
Without you, the world is empty.
Without you, the world is cold.
Please tell me this isn’t real
And that it’s just a bad dream.
I wrote this poem just a few days after the death of my father. The pain of his loss was so devastating that I struggled to even get words onto the page. I’ve decided to share it because I think the raw emotions here are important.
Let me know what you think. How does this make you feel?
Until Next Time,
